Forcing Spring

I'm still okay with winter. Really I am. (And I'd better be, because it's not coming to an end any time soon!) Still, I'm taking some vigorous precautionary measures--just in case. One was the purchase of this  "Happy Lamp." (I got it much cheaper at good 'ole Costco.) Another was an even cheaper purchase of some paperwhite--or narcissus--bulbs which I am "forcing" in my kitchen. (I stole this idea from The NieNie Dialogues.)

Here's Day One to Four. (Talk about instant gratification!)

The little guy on the left is having a rough go of it, but he just started sprouting some pretty good roots today.
