My Secret Life, Again

Guess what?  In all my glorious spare time, I'm working on a book with the wonderful women over at The Power of Moms to be published in time for Mother's Day 2011! Saren, April, and I put together a solid outline, and we have 6 of us already contributing, but we'd like to gather a few more mom writers to share the load. The book will have 12 chapters (for the 12 "powers" of motherhood), each with a main essay supported by stories/poems.

Don't underestimate yourself - just give it a try if you're even remotely interested! (Or spread the word to family and friends . . .) This is your shot at getting published in a book that's already a done deal. The only thing is, your entry is due by the 15th. Yeah, five days. (Because who is going to put something together during the holidays, and after that we'll be heavily editing and putting it all together.) It's just a 1500-2000 word essay or supporting story/poem.  Not that bad, really.  Easier than a college term paper for sure. If I can do it, surely you can.

Go here for all the details.

Daily bits:
Rachael asked me to wrap her up in her "gempi" (blankie) several times today and carry her around like a baby. So cute. Happy to oblige.

After telling Elizabeth that as little girls my sisters and I used to make a "village" out of all our Little People play sets, she brought all of our play sets downstairs to make her own "village".  (Too bad we don't have the Fisher Price McDonald's or the awesome castle with a trap door.) She does a MUCH better job as voice to all those little people when Rachael wants a playmate.  I try, I really do, but the "right" words just come much more naturally to Elizabeth.

Will made a wood birdhouse with hammer and nails today at scouts. Painted it all green.

Kate has been singing, "yes, I love technology" all day. (Napolean Dynamite.)

Brandon is playing the ukele again, right now. Before that, he was diagnosing testicular cancer.

After finally cleaning out the office together last Saturday, Brandon found the social security cards, so today I took the kids to get savings accounts at the bank. It's all part of my grand scheme involving mind/body/spirit points, money, and teaching them responsibility for both their minds/bodies/spirits as well as money.  Maybe it's overkill, but it can't hurt to try. (I have no problem abandoning dumb ideas that don't work.)

Now go write that essay!

  1. OK, is it only me, or does anyone else find it funny that three of the essays that are needed are about balance, organization, and progress? Three elusive things for most moms I know! Sounds like a great book!
